Energy Management Systems

ISO50001 Energy Management System

The new ISO50001 establishes a framework for entire organisations to manage their energy use.

Energy Management System

Energy is a critical resource for businesses, and for some can be one of their major costs. Improving the way you use energy now can provide rapid benefits, and reductions in energy consumption and use. In addition, you will be taking responsibility for the environment by tackling your impact on resource depletion and climate change.

As a business, you cannot control the economy, oil prices, government and global policy. The ISO50001 provides you with a template to control your own energy usage to become more resilient, and plan for changes.

The system will allow your organisation to:

  • Promote good energy management practices, and assist you in prioritising energy-efficiency projects.
  • Assist you in making effective use of energy-consuming assets.
  • Facilitate communication on the management of energy resources.
  • Assist energy management strategy for Greenhouse Gas Reporting purposes.
  • Provide you with a framework for promoting energy efficiency through your supply chain.

This system works with and complements existing ISO systems such as 9001 and 14001.

Testimonials

  • The advice that Low Carbon Futures gave us when we were starting to create our Environmental Management System was invaluable. Andy McKenzie gained a good understanding of our business and what we were trying to achieve, and was able to tailor his support accordingly. As a result we will be in a position to go for our ISO14001 accreditation in the next couple of months.

  • “I knew that becoming more energy efficient is a simple way to reduce operating costs and your carbon footprint, but I was surprised by the financial savings that can be made just by using energy more intelligently.  This workshop provided a fantastic introduction to energy management and gave me the tools I needed to move forward.”

    John James, CoaST
  • “The Energy and Utility Management workshop was very concise, informative and relevant to my job.  Andy McKenzie did an excellent job at helping me to relate energy management to the business model here at The Hotel & Extreme Academy and identify how we can further improve the environmental sustainability of our operations while at the same time reducing our operating costs.”
